Trapped by Tradition
Village woman Song Manman, unmarried at 29, accepts a match exchange and falls for Zhang Erniu. Zhang Erniu's sister Zhang Lian resists marrying a fool but is forced to. She escapes. Song Manman is separated from Zhang Erniu by his mother and, in despair, takes her life.
